Meet the Founder
Behind the haircare brand Charlotte Noire and the salon, the Curl Sanctuary is the founder Jessica Dupertuis.

She hasn't always worked with hair, but her life included many key stages, such as working with fresh ingredients as a chef which lead her to embark on her journey as entrepreneur.

Allow her to tell you in her own words about her interesting life and business story and get to know her a little.

OWNER - CHARLOTTE NOIRE

Hey y’all,
I’m Jess, the founder of Charlotte Noire, a hair care brand that was born from a calling to create a curly-conscious community in Europe – a sanctuary for anyone whose hair bends, curls or tightly twists. For the past ten years I’ve been happy to cultivate a community in Switzerland, sharing my knowledge about styling and taking care of textured hair.

I am a California State board certified trained hairstylist, with expertise in curly hair care and cutting. My experiences also include work in a Michelin star restaurant. Yes, you read that right!
Before it became my mission to serve the curly community, I was filling up bellies in fine dining restaurants in the United States.

Cooking was my first passion. As a little girl, having a front-row seat while the women in my family prepared meals was a treat.

Julia Childs, Jacques Pépin and Yan Can Cook were my childhood culinary heroes. I loved watching them throw-down in the kitchen. Waking up at night, while the rest of my family was asleep, I would host my own show, “Cooking with Jess”, secretly dreaming of the day when I could also bring joy to others through cooking.

Now a mother of two kids with curly hair, I am even more committed to cultivating curl pride through education and service.

I am happy that I now have a platform, where I can share my curly hair recipes and expertise, bringing a dash of American flavor to curly hair care in Europe.

Welcome to the curly-conscious collective!
