Hey fellow Charlottes! I recently made the leap to color my hair...a thing I've been hesitant to do because I've always thought that it would somehow ruin my hair. But since I see tons of naturals who color their hair, I figured that I could take the leap and ask questions along the way 😅 How can I ensure that my curls are staying moisturized (I can't stand a crunchy curl)? Should I be taking additional steps to hydrate my curls? I was also wondering, can I continue using my CN products? Are they safe for color-treated hair? All help is appreciated!

After the last CCN post, my mind was racing thinking about tips I wish I knew when I was starting out and all the tips I would still love to know and try. Since this forum is viewed by people at every stage of their curl journey, I thought we could create a space with tips we've found along the way. Sometimes, I feel like my curlfriends have crawled so that I could run; so let's share what we've already learned! I'll go first.... Misstep: Over manipulating hair Explanation: manipulation is required to care for curls and style hair, but everything must be done in moderation. Excessive touching, and use of tools (combs, brushes, etc.) is not in line with my goal of growing my hair out because natural hair is fragile, especially if it is fine natural hair. It all requires a gentle touch and care. Signs of over manipulation: excessive dryness, product buildup, flaky scalp and breakage. Any of these signs can be the result of other actions (or lack thereof), so you should have a long and honest think about your routine. Alternative Action: Curls can be so fun and beautiful that breaking the habit of touching them was hard for a while. But I started incorporating protective styles to reduce the amount of manipulation to my hair. I was also naturally put off from touching when I finally noticed that the more I touched, the frizzier my hair became and I love my definition, especially after using the CN Curl Hydrator. What tips to you have to share? Follow the title format above and create a new post in this category with your tip!

In Winter Hair Tips
Hi everyone! I just read @jessica Dupertuis post on Wintertime Haircare and I was wondering, what is the correct order to layering products? I've heard of a couple of methods like LOC, but I have to admit that I don't know how to choose one or what is truly involved when selecting products. I feel like this is basic info that I should know by now and can't keep avoiding if I truly want to grow my hair out. How do I know what is a liquid if it's not straight up water? I'm sooooo confused, help a Charlotte out 😂
